Leave It to Brady
On a bright afternoon that still found ways to bite, Brady Lau handled Beaver Brook's placement test better than anyone — a low-net 72 that doubled as the day's low gross, 78.

Leave It to Brady
Brady Lau wins Beaver Brook with the day's low gross and low net.
The Setup
Beaver Brook gave the Weekenders another postcard afternoon, and then quietly dared them to keep the ball in the right places. Brady Lau answered. His steady 78 was the low gross of the day, and once the strokes were applied it became a net 72 — three clear of the field.
The Winning Round
There was nothing loud about it: two birdies, both on the par 5s, nine pars, and only one number all afternoon worse than a bogey. On a course that punished the wrong miss, Brady kept finding the right side of trouble and let everyone else blink first. Leave it to Brady.

From the President
“The scorecard said beautiful; the round said pay attention.”
Beaver Brook rewarded players who knew where to put it off the tee and left the rest scrambling out of the wrong spots. The par 4s carried the teeth — the 8th, the No. 1 stroke hole, played as the hardest on the course, with the 6th, 13th and 15th not far behind. Keep it in front of you and you had a chance; flirt with trouble and the greens were waiting to finish the job.

A beautiful day, but not a free one. The walk between shots was easier than the putts.
